Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving- The thanksgiving holiday's history in North America is rooted in English traditions dating from the Protestant Reformation. In the United States, the Modern Thanksgiving holiday tradition is commonly, but not universally, traced to a poorly documented 1621 celebration at Plymouth at present-day Massachusetts.The 1621 Plymouth feast and thanksgiving was prompted by a good harvest. Pilgrims and Puritans who had emigrated from England in 1620/1630, carried the tradition of Days of fasting and days of Thanksgiving to New England. It was first celebrated in November, 26, 1789 in America, "as a day of public Thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God".

Thanksgiving Day: is a national holiday celebrated primarily in the United States and Canada as a day of giving thanks for the blessing of the harvest and of the preceding year. Several other places around the world observe similar celebrations. It is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States and on the second Monday of October in Canada. Thanksgiving has its historical roots in religious and cultural traditions, and has long been celebrated in a secular manner as well.

A great act of kindness!

An act of kindness witnessed in a baseball game! A young 12 year old boy, who had caught a baseball during an actual live game, had decided to do something, many would have chosen not to do. He had caught the baseball leaving another kid who tried to catch it as well, very dissapointed and sad. The kid, being raised like how we would want all kids in society be like, decided that the best thing to do was to give the ball to the other dissapointed kid. The kid Immediately became content and his mother and him thanked to 12 year old boy for his great act of kindness. Although he had given up the ball, he did something many of would have not done, simply because it could be a once in a lifetime moment. The boy however did end up being recognized for his act of kindness on Live TV, and was awarded a Baseball Bat signed by his favorite Baseball player, as well as tickets to Diamond-Backs games. The point is that we must always be kind no matter what the situation is because the best reward in life to me, is knowing that you are a great person, not only towards yourself, but towards society in general.

Veterans Day

Veterans Day

Veterans day is an official United States holiday have served in the U.S Armed Forces , also known as veterans. It celebrates the men and women who served our country in times of war. This holiday was made legal in May, 13, 1938, a day dedicated to the cause of world peace. During this Holiday, Many do not work nor go to school. No mail is delivered so basically we take time off our daily lives in order to honor those who served us in times of conflict/need. If anyone is to work, he/she will get holiday pay or get an addition to their regular wages.

What this holiday means to me is that we celebrate/honor those who served us in our times of need. Meaning we take a day off our daily lives to honor/recognize all the efforts our veterans made in order to make this Country and our lives better.

"Doing what is right, fair, and honorable is more important than winning or losing." - Chick Moorman

What this quote means to me is that doing the right things, being a fair person, being honorable is way more important than winning or losing in life. You can win, but if you haven't worked hard to win then there is no reason to call yourself a winner. In the end, Live a life with integrity and great virtue because I guarantee you will be successful whether you win or lose.

1. Have the courage to say no.

3. Do the right thing because it is right.

"These are the 3 magic keys to living your life with integrity."- W. Clement Stone

What this quote to means to me is that always choosing what is right from wrong, always facing the truth even if it get's you in trouble, always so no to any bad influences to be have a life full of integrity and happiness.

Integrity

Integrity - the quality of being honest and fair.

Synonyms for "Integrity"

 - Honesty
- Virtue
- Principle
- Purity
- Rectitude
- Sincerity
- Probity
- Candor

A few examples of integrity could be as simple as, for example, pretend you are at a soccer game semi-final/final and you are playing as a striker (Goal scorer) and you get the ball in the opponents box area and slip. The ref calls to the spot calling a Penalty. While your teammates celebrate, you notice that you slipped on your own, not that a defender/ opponent pushed you down. A person with true integrity would go to the ref and explain the situation and taking of the penalty. Integrity for me is more than just being honest and fair, it's being a good human being towards yourself and society.
