Duties and Responsibilities:
Allergists, also known as immunologists, are doctors
specialized in the area of immunology, which means their main purpose is to
identify and treat allergic reactions and immunological disorders.
Salary: The employment outlook for Allergists is very good. According
to statistics, the average salary of an Allergist usually reaches 330.000
dollars a year. However, the salary is based on the level of experience and
location. For entry-level positions, the salary is significantly reduced.
Education: In order to become Allergists, a four years medical college
is mandatory. Furthermore, a few years in the field of specialization are also
necessary. This period, usually of two years, is known as the
fellowship-training program in allergy and immunology. After all these medical
studies, the next step is to obtain a certificate or license to practice in
this area from the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. Some employers
require the applicants for an Allergist position to have 13 years of medical
training. This includes 4 years of pre-med college, 4 years of medical school,
3 years of residency training and the last 2 years of fellowship training
program in allergy and immunology.
